The Friendly Nations program includes a pathway based on employment purposes. If a company in Panama wishes to hire you, the employment relationship may form part of the basis for your application.
More than a residency permit
For many people, Panama offers flexibility, international connectivity, and the opportunity to establish a legal base for themselves and their family.
You may maintain your life and international activities without residency requiring you to spend every month of the year in Panama.
Holding immigration residency does not, by itself, create an obligation to pay income tax in Panama.
If you earn Panama-source income, tax obligations may apply. Your tax situation should be assessed separately.
The program allows dependents, subject to each family member meeting the applicable relationship and documentation requirements.

What are the main ways to apply?
Among other application requirements, the program provides three main ways to support the purpose of residency: employment purposes, real estate investment, and a fixed-term deposit.
Does residency automatically allow me to work?
No. Immigration residency and a work permit are separate procedures. When applicable, the corresponding work authorization must be obtained.
Is the residency permanent from the beginning?
No. The first stage is provisional residency for two years. Permanent residency may then be requested once the applicable requirements are met.
Can I apply with my family?
Yes. Dependents may be included when they meet the applicable relationship, documentation, and other requirements.
